Book of the Month for April: Routledge Library Editions: Witchcraft

Here's some important news for fans of folklore and mythology. April will see the publication of a fascinating 8-volume set on Witchcraft. Spanning the UK and Europe this extensive study focuses on witch hunts and the trials of early modern Europe.

Witchcraft will be available to purchase as part of a multi-volume set, individually, or as an eBook. For those interested in the historical, anthropological, religious and mythological contexts of witchcraft it will be a must-read.

Godly Zeal and a Furious Rage is just one of the titles featured in this set. In the fourth of a century since Godly Zeal was written academic witchcraft studies have gone from strength to strength.

More recent works, many of them detailed local studies, have highlighted two key facts. Witchcraft beliefs were imbedded deeply in most communities and were of part of normal day to day existence.

Secondly the triggers, manifestations and reactions to such a belief took different forms in different societies. Normality and diversity have replaced abnormal and monolithic as the keywords of modern witchcraft scholarship.

This collection will be published on the 19th April, you can learn more about the set or pre-order today.
